Dante's Links of Love

Continuing the Spring 2011 Newport Gallery Night Series, CADEAUX du MONDE will feature Newport artist Kristin Dyer's new line of chainmaille jewelry and other chainmaille creations--Dante's Links of Love. In addition, Kristin will be demonstrating how to create chainmaille jewelry in ongoing informal gallery demonstrations from 5:00 until 8:00 in the evening of April 14th .

Kristin decided to create and sell this new line of chainmaille, Dante's Links of Love, to help raise awareness for Autism in honor of her son, Dante who was diagnosed with autism 2 years ago necessitating that Kristin become a stay at home mother. Currently, 1 in every 110 children born is diagnosed with some form of autism. Kristin will be donating a portion of all profits to several different autism foundations including The Autism Project of RI and AutismSpeaks.org. She knows that these children need a voice and that more awareness about autism will ensure a bright future for these children.

Born and raised in Rochester, MA, Kristin learned leather work and jewelry making from her mother at a young age. Branching out into other types of handcraft such as beading and macrame on her own, she was an accomplished beader at the age of 11. While in high school here in Newport, she became enchanted with chainmaille and decided that this style of handcraft was truly her niche. Now more than a decade later of continually creating unique chainmaille jewelry, she continues to develop and design new patterns and designs--many of which will be on display and available at the gallery for April's Newport Gallery Night.
